Example course – “THE HEROIC JOURNEY OF HUMANITY AND YOU”

This course summarizes four decades of work and includes weekly calls with exercises as well as access to an online course that is rich with opportunities for building community.

We can find our way into this new future—both personally and collectively—with the aid of deep guides in the form of universal stories or narratives that are recognized around the world.  Through stories, we gain insight into and understanding of the Great Turning underway now and we have a clearer path of action in the world.  Deep stories reveal that our times of change are not so mysterious or so overwhelming, and we are empowered to act both individually and in concert with one another.

Our life story connects us with ourselves, others and with future generations.  Story is the underlying basis for our lives—the underpinning that guides our actions.  Authentic narratives empower us to see the big picture of the human journey and a clear pathway into a promising future.  There may be no greater challenge to creating a promising future than discovering compelling stories that draw us together in creating that future.  Instead a time of despair, this is a time of transition and there are “beacons of hope” drawing us into a promising future. This course explores four “deep stories” or archetypes that we tell ourselves about who we are and where we are going.  Each story is one of hope and opportunity–a story of the new freedoms that are emerging from our world in transition.

The narratives developed in this course represent the culmination of 40 years of scholarship and inquiry.  My books—Changing Images of Man (with Joseph Campbell), Awakening Earth, Promise Ahead, Voluntary Simplicity, and The Living Universe—continue to be among the guideposts at the leading edge of cultural transformation
